Earlier tonite Nat and I were getting some work done at the shop, churning sales to get items out to you guys, making moves, chatting, fighting etc
Anyway music playing all the while in the background, “Brass in pocket” by The Pretenders comes on.. Nat mentions how this always makes her feel like cereal.
I totally missed the connection 0_o, but she mentioned one of the lines with the… “special special so special”.. hence Special K.
And it tossed me back 20 years.. made me think of that commercial (posted below) of that business man dude, in a fresh white shirt, real executive lookin marfarker, business tie on, modern deco cups and saucers eating a healthy sharp breakfast with his red head missus who makes him gawk at her body as she left for work, and the reference to Special K.. as that’s her breakfast of choice or some shit.
I remember how I, as a pup, used to watch that commercial and think, MAN, I want to be that guy, back then he seemed really upbeat and successful, had it all, breakfast, a missus, a white shirt (growing up in St. Albans no one i knew wore a shirt to work, or worked at all, so there was no white collar figure to look up to, so to speak).
So I DONE GOOD in school, achieved a degree, busted my chops, hustled a little on the side, made friends, networked, got that executive position earnin’ loot..
And you know what?
It’s shit.
Saint Side, and wearing T-shirts and sneakers to work.. is so much better.
