Luftgekuhlt Tokyo - Canon Ixus 60

Luftgekühlt (German for "air-cooled") is a world renowned experiential automotive car show, often changing locations in series, exclusively for the air-cooled era of Porsches.

A bucket list event for any car enthusiast, and especially Porsche fans, that has moved around the USA in some of the coolest locations for 12 years now.  From functional factory settings, to production film sets like the Warner Brothers Backlot, the show is part important aesthetic, part car display, and a dream for all photographers and lovers of colours, shapes, and design.

With short notice, they announced a Japan show, in Ginza, on an elevated expressway, the KK line, a portion of highway that was historically notorious for street racing.

The intention? A one and done, uniquely Tokyo Luft, a never to be repeated event (as the highway itself is becoming an elevated green space, before being decommissioned and removed entirely).

A location that meets all of the notables from what you could call Luft's mission statement along with a community gathering of the who's who of Porsche world in Japan (and some abroad), 2km stretch of elevated highway, over 200 cars on display, and attracting an international audience of those, who would respect and prioritise the efforts to get there.

A once in a life time event. Truly.

Enjoy a selection of shots I grabbed on my 20 year old Canon Ixus 60, a basic 6mp digicam, that I've enjoyed shooting with lately.
